The Local Agency Public Construction Act provides that for certain alteration or repair work upon county-owned buildings, counties containing a population of 2,000,000 or more are exempt from provisions of the Public Contract Code requiring repairs exceeding a specified amount upon public buildings to be done by contract if the cost is under $50,000.

This bill would provide that for certain alteration or repair work upon county-owned buildings, counties containing a population of 9 million or more are exempt from provisions of the Public Contract Code, requiring repairs exceeding a specified amount upon public buildings to be done by contract, if the cost is under $125,000, except as specified.

This bill would make legislative findings and declarations as to the necessity of a special statute for the County of Los Angeles.
