1.0" ?> WHEREAS, The Power of Us event is a singular event that brings together women’s leadership organizations including Leadership California, California Legislative Women’s Caucus, She Shares, California Women Lead, the Commission on the Status of Women and Girls, and the Women’s Foundation California; and WHEREAS, The Power of Us event recognizes women leaders who have and continue to make a difference in our state and communities; and WHEREAS, The sponsors of this event have come together for this unique opportunity to support women leaders but also engage, educate, support and inspire others to pursue their own leadership path; and WHEREAS, The percentage of women-owned businesses in California is less than 25 percent, only 4 percent CEOs, 33 percent directors, and 41 percent management positions are held by women; and WHEREAS, While we have made significant progress, women legislators remain disproportionate to the state’s population; and WHEREAS, Women leaders and their success are critical to the health and well-being of our families, state, nation, and overall economy; and WHEREAS, The state and nation benefits from over one-half of our population being women, there is much more to be done to ensure they are at the table and engaged in decisionmaking and policymaking from communities to board rooms to legislative bodies; and WHEREAS, The Power of Us event celebrates the work of women leaders and also empowers all of us to find ways to strengthen their voice in all the rooms, chambers, and communities that are determining the fate of our state and nation; now, therefore, be it |
