Existing law generally regulates classes of insurance, including fire insurance. Existing law requires an insurer, after a covered loss under a fire insurance policy, to provide the insured a free copy of their policy within 30 calendar days of receiving a request from the insured. Existing law authorizes the Insurance Commissioner to extend this period.

This bill would require the insurer to provide the insured a free copy of their fire insurance policy within 15 calendar days of receiving a request from the insured.
