Existing law requires the Department of Industrial Relations, upon appropriation by the Legislature, to establish a Women in Construction Priority Unit, overseen by the Director of Industrial Relations. Existing law requires the unit to, among other things, provide resources for employers and project owners, including public agencies, to improve construction worksite culture, address barriers to employment, and develop training and materials for workforce pipeline professionals specific to women and nonbinary individuals in construction. Existing law establishes the Labor Commissioner as the Chief of the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement.

This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to require the Labor Commissioner to report data on women in the construction industry to the Legislature.
