Existing law defines certain terms for provisions related to the judicial commitment of sexually violent predators to secure facilities for appropriate treatment and confinement, and defines sexually violent predator to mean a person who has been convicted of a sexually violent offense, as specified, against one or more victims and who has a diagnosed mental disorder that makes the person a danger to the health and safety of others in that it is likely that they will engage in sexually violent criminal behavior.
