Existing law establishes that specified convictions, violations, and traffic-related incidents count as points against a driver’s record for purposes of the suspension or revocation of the privilege to drive. Existing law imposes 2 violation points each against a driver’s record for purposes of the suspension or revocation of the privilege to drive if a driver is convicted of vehicular manslaughter, including driving a vehicle in the commission of an unlawful act, not amounting to a felony, and with gross negligence, or driving a vehicle in connection with automobile insurance fraud where the vehicular collision or accident was knowingly caused for financial gain and proximately resulted in the death of any person.

This bill would increase the violation points to 3 against a driver’s record for a conviction of the above-described driving offenses.
