The measure would request that the Department of Transportation determine the cost of appropriate signs showing this special designation and, upon receiving donations from nonstate sources sufficient to cover the cost, to erect those signs.</html:p>

<html:p>WHEREAS, As a designated Purple Heart City, the City of Willows takes great pride in honoring and supporting our nation’s veterans, particularly those who have been wounded or have made the ultimate sacrifice in combat; and </html:p>

<html:p>WHEREAS, The City of Willows and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1770 / Auxiliary support the mission of the Military Order of the Purple Heart to promote patriotism and ensure that our combat wounded veterans are never forgotten; and</html:p>
