<html:p>Existing law, the Private Security Services Act, requires the Director of Consumer Affairs to administer its provisions. Existing law requires a person registered as a security guard or patrolperson, and their employer, to deliver to the director a written report describing fully the circumstances surrounding any discharge of any firearm in which they were involved while acting within the course and scope of their employment within 7 days after the incident.</html:p>
<html:p>This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to that provision.</html:p>

(a)
<html:span class="EnSpace"/>
Any person registered as a security guard or patrolperson, and the employer of the security guard or patrolperson, shall deliver to the director a written report describing fully the circumstances surrounding any incident involving the discharge of any firearm in which they were involved while acting within the course and scope of their
employment, within seven days after the incident. The report shall be made on a form prescribed by the director which shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

The name, address, and date of birth of the guard or patrolperson.
</html:p>
<html:p>
(2)
<html:span class="EnSpace"/>
The registration number of the guard or patrolperson.
</html:p>
<html:p>
(3)
<html:span class="EnSpace"/>
The firearm permit number and baton permit number of the guard or patrolperson, if applicable.

<html:p>
(4)
<html:span class="EnSpace"/>
The name of the employer of the person.
</html:p>
<html:p>
(5)
<html:span class="EnSpace"/>
The description of
any injuries and damages that occurred.
</html:p>
<html:p>
(6)
<html:span class="EnSpace"/>
The identity of all participants in the incident.
</html:p>
<html:p>
(7)
<html:span class="EnSpace"/>
Whether a police investigation was conducted relating to the incident.
</html:p>
<html:p>
(8)
<html:span class="EnSpace"/>
The date and location of the incident. Any report may be investigated by the director to determine if any disciplinary action is necessary.

(b)
<html:span class="EnSpace"/>
A copy of the report delivered to the director pursuant to this section shall also be delivered within seven days of the incident to the local police or sheriff’s department which has jurisdiction over the geographic area where the incident
occurred.
