<html:p>Under existing law, the Director of Developmental Services is appointed by the court as conservator or guardian for persons with developmental disabilities by the title of the office. Under existing law, the appointment ceases upon the termination of the director’s term of office and authority vests in the successor in office without further court proceedings.</html:p>
<html:p>This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to those provisions.</html:p>

<html:p>The appointment by the court of the Director of Developmental Services as conservator or guardian shall be by the title of the office. The authority of the Director of Developmental Services as conservator or guardian shall cease upon the termination of the director’s term of office as
the
Director of Developmental Services and that authority shall vest in the director’s successor or successors in office without further court proceedings. The Director of Developmental Services shall not resign as conservator or guardian unless the resignation is approved by the court.</html:p>
