<html:p>Existing law, the Nursing Practice Act, establishes the Board of Registered Nursing to license and regulate the practice of nursing. Existing law requires the board to establish a Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee to advise and make recommendations to the board on all matters relating to nurse practitioners, and specifies that the committee shall consist of 4 qualified nurse practitioners, 2 physicians and surgeons, and one public member.</html:p>
<html:p>This bill would instead specify that the committee shall consist of 5 qualified nurse practitioners, 3 physicians and surgeons, and 2 public members.</html:p>

(a)
<html:span class="EnSpace"/>
The board shall establish a Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee to advise and make recommendations to the board on all matters relating to nurse practitioners, including, but not limited to, education, appropriate standard of care, and other matters specified by the board. The committee shall provide recommendations or guidance to the board when the board is considering disciplinary action against a nurse practitioner.

The committee shall consist of five qualified nurse practitioners,
three physicians and surgeons with demonstrated experience working with nurse practitioners, and two public members.
