<html:p>Existing law requires the Public Utilities Commission, if it determines that the rules, practices, equipment, appliances, facilities, or service of a public utility, or the methods of manufacture, distribution, transmission, storage, or supply used by the public utility, are unjust, unreasonable, unsafe, improper, inadequate, or insufficient, to determine and fix the rules, practices, equipment, appliances, facilities, service, or methods to be observed, furnished, constructed, enforced, or used.</html:p>
<html:p>This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to that requirement.</html:p>

<html:p>If the commission, after a hearing, finds that the rules, practices, equipment, appliances, facilities, or service of a public utility, or the methods of manufacture, distribution, transmission, storage, or supply used by the public utility, are unjust,
unreasonable, unsafe, improper, inadequate, or insufficient, the commission shall determine and, by order or rule, fix the rules, practices, equipment, appliances, facilities, service, or methods to be observed, furnished, constructed, enforced, or used. The commission shall prescribe rules for the performance of a service or the furnishing of a commodity of the character furnished or supplied by
a public utility, and, on proper demand and tender of rates, the public utility shall furnish that commodity or render that service within the time and upon the conditions provided in those
rules.</html:p>
