                        <html:p>The California Academic Volunteer and Mentor Service Act of 1992 creates the Academic Volunteer and Mentor Service Program, administered by the office of the Governor, in order to provide academic support and guidance to each child who requires it, as provided. The act sets forth the intent of the Legislature that funding for purposes of the act be appropriated in the annual Budget Act, as provided.</html:p>
                        <html:p>This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to the latter provision.</html:p>

                                                                (a)
                                                                <html:span class="EnSpace"/>
                                                                It is the intent of the Legislature that funding for purposes of this chapter be appropriated in the annual Budget Act.
                                                        </html:p>
                                                        <html:p>
                                                                (b)
                                                                <html:span class="EnSpace"/>
                                                                Of any amount appropriated for the purposes of this chapter for any fiscal year, an amount not exceeding 5 percent may be applied to the administrative expenses of the office of the Governor with regard to this chapter. To the extent that the amount made available pursuant to this subdivision is not sufficient to meet those administrative expenses, the responsibilities of the office of the Governor under this chapter shall be performed, to the
                                  extent feasible, with funding from other available sources.
