Alpine

When queried for sources of information on jail populations, the Sheriff's office responded that "There is nowhere that Alpine County reports numbers to." Alpine County has no jail facilities, instead contracting its incarceration needs to El Dorado County and Calaveras County.

Amador

Continuously publishes list of inmates with name, other identifying information, and charges.
Status: GOOD

Butte

Butte County points to VINE for information on inmates, which allows one to search only for inmates by state, not by county.
Status: HOSTILE TO FETCH

Calaveras

A note (via the web site) has been sent to the Sheriff's Office for information about jail populations. (2021-01-19 -rrk) No information pertaining to inmate populations are locatable. A Booking Log with names is published.

Colusa

The Contra Costa County web site does publish some data, such as the names and release dates of inmates scheduled for release (https://www.cocosheriff.org/how-do-i/inmate-information/inmate-reports), but they do not publish information about total populations.

Del Norte County has a page for this information, but it is blocked with a captcha.

El Dorado

The El Dorado County web site publishes jail population statistics daily.

Fresno

Data comes from the Fresno County web site, published daily.

Glenn

Glenn County publishes information on recent bookings, but information on inmate populations cannot be located.

Humboldt

Data comes from the Humboldt County web site, from the daily "Alpha Population Report". This is published every day, for the previous day.
Status: GOOD

Imperial

Imperial County points to VINE for information on inmates, which allows one to search only for inmates by state, not by county.

Inyo

Continuously publishes list of inmates with name, other identifying information, and charges.
Status: GOOD

Kern

Kern County web site allows searching but requires last name (2 letters) and first name (1 letter), so a search takes 17,576 fetch operations.

Kings

Data comes from the Kings County web site, which is published every day. Information published includes name, DoB, arrest details and charge details.

Lake

Inmate names are available on a search form that accepts an empty value.

Mariposa

Mariposa County publishes a Daily Booking Report, but may not publish a population report.

Mendocino

Mendocino County continually publishes a list of current inmates.
Status: GOOD

Merced

Merced County continually publishes a list of current inmates.

Modoc

Modoc County points to VINE for information on inmates, which allows one to search only for inmates by state, not by county.

Mono

Continuously publishes list of inmates with name, other identifying information, and charges.

San Benito County does not seem to publish any inmate population information on its web site.

San Bernardino

Requires part of a last name, part of a first name and an approximate birth date or age to search or a booking number.
Status: HOSTILE TO FETCH

San Diego

Access to the inmate search page is blocked by a captcha, requiring last name (2 letters), first name (2 letters) and a captcha (random-letters-style) with each search.

San Francisco

The San Francisco County website has a page for searching for inmates, but it requires three letters for both first and last name and may not even work.

San Joaquin

Access to the inmate search page is blocked by a captcha. The use InmateID but it requires a full first and last name.

San Luis Obispo

Offers a strange search page for booking logs with agency (of 18 or all), date (of the last month) and hour (all 24 different), but no inmate population info. Search page seems to take only "complete" name.

The Solano County website has a page for searching for inmates, but it requires three letters and allows no wildcards, thereby requiring 17,576 separate searches.

Sonoma County has a data endpoint where they provide daily population data in JSON format. Super green!

Data comes from the Stanislaus County web site, which is published every day.

Sutter

Sutter County blocks their inmate information page with a captcha. Queried the Sherrif's office on 2021-06-25.

Tehama

Data comes from the Tehama County web site, which is published every day. The web page does, though, seem to often be published late in the day.

Trinity

There is no jail population information on Trinity County web site. Their "Inmate Roster" page is hosted by a third-party company and provides only a national jail search.

Tulare

Data comes from the Tulare County web site, which is published every day.

Tuolumne

Tuolumne County points to VINE for information on inmates, which allows one to search only for inmates by state, not by county. See the County Custody Division web site, which includes a YouTube video (because that is important...) but no information on jail populations.

Ventura
